In March 2006 ICT International conducted a very successful Latin American distributor training workshop in Santiago Chile. Distributors from Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia and Argentina attended the 5 day workshop where they received detailed theoretical and practical training on the ICT range of Meteorological, Plant and Soil Science instruments.
The products of most interest for all distributors were the exciting new sensors manufactured by ICT International for measuring reverse sapflow (HRM), Plant Water Potential (Stem Hygrometer) and soil pore water conductivity (soil salinity sensor). These sensors are unique to ICT International and when combined with the ICT Smart Logger or FieldStation provide distributors with a user customisable solution to meet all of their customers research needs.
The highlight of the week long workshop was the practical session at the University of Talca where the distributors
commissioned a FieldStation for measuring sapflow in grapevines. Alvaro Arias of LAPACA said "Getting into the field and
actually taking real measurements with equipment was the big difference between the ICT International distributor training
and other manufacturers training workshops I have attended."
ICT International would like to thank all of the distributors for attending the workshop and helping to make it such a huge success. We look forward to continuing their development with more advanced training workshops planned in Australia over the next 12 months.
ICT working together with CARDI (Cambodia Agriculture Research Development Institute) has established the first phase of what will become the country's first and only National Weather Station Network.
The first phase was completed in December 2005 with the training of CARDI staff and commissioning of the main weather station infrastructure. In 2006 the network will be enabled with GSM wireless modems to link all the weather data from across the country to a central location at the main CARDI headquarters in Phnom Penh. Data will be downloaded daily and posted to a web site for access by all of CARDI's research staff. This project will be a major boost for all of CARDI's research projects and for the people of Cambodia as a nation.

The Centre for Land Rehabilitation at The University of Western Australia
organised a Workshop on
Hydrological Monitoring of Cover Systems on Mine-Wastes
Soil Science, Engineering Principles and Pragmatics
The Workshop focused on the engineering principles of final cover systems for mining wastes and was particularly relevant to mining companies. The workshop was presented by top scientists and included demonstrations of monitoring equipment.
